For months, one question has dominated the conversation: “Will AI take my job?” The data suggests a more useful question: how quickly can you turn AI into part of your own professional capability?

The World Economic Forum reports that 41% of surveyed employers expect to reduce staff where AI can replicate work. At the same time, 62% plan to hire people who can work alongside AI and 77% plan to reskill or upskill their workforce.

The numbers are uncomfortable. They also point to the response.

  • 41% expect workforce reductions where AI can replicate work.
  • 62% plan to hire people with skills to work alongside AI.
  • 77% plan workforce reskilling or upskilling.
  • 47% plan to transition people from AI-disrupted roles into other internal positions.
  • In Mexico, job postings requiring AI skills rose from 33,000 in 2024 to 68,000 in 2025.
  • 67% of Mexican AI users say they now do work they could not do one year ago.

The WEF also projects 22% job disruption by 2030, with 170 million roles created and 92 million displaced, a net gain of 78 million. This is not simply the end of work; it is a rapid redistribution of professional value.

2026 made the warning concrete

Reuters reported that Cloudflare announced cuts of about 20% of its workforce — more than 1,100 roles — while moving toward an “agentic AI-first operating model.” One company is not the whole economy, and AI is rarely the only factor behind a restructuring, but the case shows that some organizations are already redesigning work around these capabilities.

Fear can warn you. It cannot be the plan.

Uncertainty is understandable when a tool can complete in seconds work that used to take hours. Paralysis is the dangerous part. The defensive strategy is not avoiding AI; it is learning to perform higher-value work with it while strengthening judgment, context, communication, selling, leadership and accountability.

The other side of the transformation: professionals using AI-enabled workflows to expand what they can do.

That is where tools like Esteborg matter

Esteborg is not built on the assumption that everyone must become an AI engineer. It is built around a practical need: transform how you work, create business, communicate and lead. Applied AI, Sales, and Communication + Leadership work together in one platform.

The goal is not to collect courses or memorize prompts. Bring a real situation, practice it, get feedback, adjust and try again. Performance Graph connects that evidence to show strengths, gaps and evolution.

The useful conversation is no longer “AI versus humans”

It is which people will learn to work better with AI, which companies will transform their workforce before replacing roles, and which professionals will be able to demonstrate that their value has increased rather than declined.

Career resilience is not built by fear. It is built by developing capability before you urgently need it.
